Is it worth starting a business?

Welcome to

The Budding Entrepreneurs Den

Thank you very much for buying my book. This site is to help you avoid mistakes when starting a business enterprise.

Don't worry about making mistakes when starting up! As long as you learn from them, your mistakes are just errors of judgement!

Example: Suppose you are a football manager picking your side for Saturday's match. You choose Smith to play on the wing and Harris centre forward. You lose the match 3 nil. The following Saturday you pick Harris on the wing and Smith centre forward. You win 2-1. You have learnt!

What is your business based on?

Selling products online or face to face

This spreadsheet is for anyone who wants to sell a product or range of products online or in retail premises or wholesale premises.

Key point: Your own wages together with any staff costs in total should not exceed 40% of your gross profit if you want to succeed.

Selling your time

This spreadsheet is for software designers, programmers, podcasters, influencers, consultants, electricians, plumbers, in fact anyone whose business relies entirely on their manual or brain skill.

Key point: Your time is limited so the more you get per hour the better.

Keeping Cash positive

This spreadsheet is essential for anyone who wants to start their own business.

Key point: Always be realistic not idealistic about sales and include yourself as a cost to see if you can be cash positive which you must be.

These programmes ask you to state how much money you want or need and how to get it - Good luck!
